Climate Change Business Journal (CCBJ) and Environmental Business Journal (EBJ) recognized Tetra Tech for outstanding business and project achievement advancing climate resilience, innovation, and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in 2023.

Tetra Tech received awards for project achievement in emerging contaminants, forest conversation, energy efficiency, and sustainable building design at the Environmental Industry Summit XXII in San Diego, California, on April 3, 2024.

Designing per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) treatment facilities

EBJ recognized Tetra Tech with a Project Merit Award for our work with the City of Dayton, Ohio, to combat PFAS contamination in the city’s water supply. Tetra Tech’s emerging contaminants experts developed a $400 million master plan for the City to address asset management needs at two 96 million gallons per day (MGD) water treatment plants (WTP) and well fields. The strategy includes expanding pumping and recharge, installing an interconnect between two treatment plants, and installing PFAS treatment. Our comprehensive approach, from planning to design to implementation, addresses emerging contaminants and maintains a high-quality water source for communities in the region.

Strengthening forest management in India through technology

CCBJ awarded Tetra Tech a Project Merit Award in Climate Change Adaptation & Resilience for strengthening forest management in India through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Forest-PLUS 2.0 project. Tetra Tech supported the development of the Van system (Van means forest in Hindi)—an integrated system comprised of a mobile app and a web portal for forest inventory and ecosystem data collection, which to date has supported forest management plans for more than 4 million hectares of forest. Through Forest-PLUS 2.0, Tetra Tech partnered with public, private, and community land managers to improve forest management and inclusive economic opportunities. The Van system reduces field data collection time from one year to two-three months, enabling time and cost savings for users in 118 forest divisions across six Indian states.

Designing climate resilient infrastructure in Western Australia

CCBJ also recognized Tetra Tech with a Project Merit Award in Climate Change Resilient Infrastructure for delivering core building and specialist engineering services for the Boola Katitjin Building at Murdoch University in Perth, Australia. The state-of-the-art building, constructed with mass-engineered timber, not only reduces embodied carbon but also sequesters carbon over its life cycle. The building uses passive cooling systems and a rooftop solar panel array producing more than 60 percent of the building’s operational energy requirements at peak conditions. Additional sustainability features in the building include stormwater harvesting for grey water use and the installation of thousands of native plants in the surrounding areas. The project demonstrates leadership in sustainability on a national scale, with the building designed to achieve a 6 star Green Star Design & As Built rating, the highest under Australia’s Green Building Council certification program.
