Marinus Link will triple the size of interconnection between Victoria and Tasmania through the installation of two 750 MW subsea cables, 90-kilometer (55-mile) underground cables in Victoria, and upgrades to the Tasmanian transmission network. By increasing energy exchange between Victoria and Tasmania, the project will unlock renewable energy generation opportunities and cost-effective energy storage. The project also will support affordable, reliable, and clean energy in Victoria, Tasmania, and the broader Australian National Electricity Market.
- Navigated highly complex approvals process across multiple local, state, and federal jurisdictions
- Delivering more than 50 environmental, heritage, and planning technical studies
- Integrated geospatial management with project WebGIS
Using our Leading with Science® approach, Tetra Tech’s team of technical specialists are providing a wide range of environmental, land use planning, and heritage services for the design and approvals phase of the project. For the last three years, we have provided strategic advice on route selection using integrated geospatial management with project WebGIS and developed an approvals strategy to efficiently navigate the complex approval requirements. The project must satisfy the requirements of eight local councils and two state governments, as well as the Commonwealth government.
Our team currently is developing 50 technical studies and preparing environmental and social impact assessments to secure mandatory environmental, planning, and heritage approvals required for project construction to commence on schedule.
