RPS, A Tetra Tech Company provided project management and contract administration for Defense facilities supporting Royal Australian Air Force Growler operations.
Challenge
The Department of Defence required new facilities at Royal Australian Air Force Base Amberley in Queensland to support operation and maintenance of its Boeing EA-18G Growler aircraft.
The project was initiated to deliver new administrative, operations and training spaces at the base to support Growler aircraft operations by the Royal Australian Air Force’s No. 6 Squadron.
With several other major upgrade initiatives taking place at Royal Australian Air Force Base Amberley at the same time, communication with stakeholders was vital to prevent disruption to operational capability at the base. The project also involved more than 100 stakeholders, creating a need for clear communication, disciplined project management and strong contract administration.
Solution
Tetra Tech provided project management and contract administration services to the Department of Defence under a Managing Contractor Contract for the Growler facilities. Phase 1 of the Growler project was completed in early 2018, and the second phase was completed in 2020.
Throughout the project, stakeholder communication was central to maintaining alignment across Defence, contractor, operational, and base interfaces. Tetra Tech helped coordinate project activity in a complex live Defence environment, supporting delivery of new facilities while helping prevent disruption to operational capability at Royal Australian Air Force Base Amberley.
