Planning and Permitting

Tetra Tech supports the operation of efficient and environmentally compliant solid waste facilities while accommodating future growth.

We have been at the forefront of developing comprehensive plans to meet new regulatory targets and directives; monitor effects of new programs; analyze industry best practices to manage resources, extend landfill life, or reduce greenhouse gas emissions; and assess alternatives to reduce costs. Tetra Tech has comprehensive project experience in and understanding of the specialized processes and facilities involved in solid waste management systems. This expertise enables us to develop facility master plans and solid waste management plans for public planning agencies and solid waste facility owners that meet or exceed regulatory standards while remaining economically efficient.

Whether the media is land, waste, groundwater, surface water, or air, Tetra Tech’s skilled staff help clients maintain site compliance. We provide a full suite of environmental planning and permitting services, including conducting long-range planning; identifying environmental compliance requirements; preparing environmental impact statements; completing routine compliance reporting; negotiating with regulatory agencies; and carrying out transactional services.

We conduct waste composition studies and environmental sampling of all media at solid waste and industrial sites. Tetra Tech’s engineers, geologists, scientists, and compliance specialists provide routine compliance data reporting and work closely with site personnel, operations management, regulators, legal counsel, and other key parties to ensure all federal, state, and local rules and regulations are followed. We also can provide on-site assistance during performance and engineering testing and review performance test reports to make sure they accurately represent conditions at our client’s site.
