Water Security

Tetra Tech is a global leader in addressing water security risks and threats worldwide.

We recognize that rapidly growing competition for water-related resources and services poses a significant risk to development and political stability and threatens to undermine long-term development gains for vulnerable communities. Tetra Tech works with stakeholders in water security hotspots to build resilience to water-related risks by implementing integrated water resources management and adaptation strategies. We also support locally owned processes of water security assessment, planning, and implementation of targeted measures that reduce vulnerability to priority risks to water quality both now and in the future.

Tetra Tech’s approach is built upon proven science and analytical tools, employed at the appropriate basin, sub-basin, and local catchment scale, to identify key water-related risks and threats.

As part of the Sustainable Water Partnership (SWP) Leader with Associates (LWA) Program, Tetra Tech is supporting the U.S. Agency for International Development’s (USAID) global portfolio and technical leadership on water security. This includes providing technical assistance on water security to USAID missions and host-country governments, capacity building, and strategic assessments to prioritize water security investments; implementing field-based activities; creating partnerships for leveraging resources to implement action plans; and sharing best practices and lessons learned worldwide.

Tetra Tech works to strengthen the capacity of stakeholders by integrating data access and use through local capacity development in participatory key data collection, as well as through expertise and tools to help decision makers conduct analysis and interpret data for cross-sectoral planning and budgeting. Working with national and regional stakeholder organizations, our team has experience in developing and hosting learning platforms that make data, results, tools, and other information accessible. Tetra Tech’s methods ensure that knowledge of water security measures are being captured and stored, and further help facilitate the use, long-term ownership, and sustainability of the data by the local actors.
