Providence, A Tetra Tech Company supported Defence to design, establish, and embed the Joint Military Police Unit as a unified and sustainable military policing capability.
Challenge
The Australian Defence Force’s military policing capability was distributed across the three Services, with limited integration and inconsistent implementation of earlier recommendations. Tetra Tech conducted a First Principles Review to identify the need for a cohesive national policing body with responsibilities across Defence bases and provide the foundation for a tailored reform program.
Solution
Tetra Tech was engaged to design and implement the Joint Military Police Unit as a unified Defence policing function. The team applied a strategic systems approach to coordinate the organisational, workforce, policy, governance, logistics, training, and capability elements required to establish the new organisation.
The engagement included organisational design, workforce integration, preparation for test and evaluation, development of equipment procurement and management systems, staff training, policy development, governance arrangements, and Military Police Capability Documents supporting the introduction into service of new capability. Tetra Tech remained engaged to support implementation and institutionalisation of the capability within mainstream Defence.
