Early Careers application process

As part of the recruitment process for our Early Careers positions, selected candidates will be asked to carry out some online tests. Once complete, shortlisted candidates may go through a virtual assessment session and a final face-to-face assessment day, typically at one of our offices, so you get a feel for the business.

Assessment days provide an opportunity for you to learn more about Tetra Tech as well as our Early Careers and Technical Development Schemes. You will meet managers and representatives from the team you could be working with. The days typically involve some group tasks, presentations, and an individual interview.

You can prepare for the assessment day by:

  • Researching Tetra Tech and our projects
  • Preparing some questions
  • Planning your journey and arriving in plenty of time!

Application timeline

Graduates:

  • Roles are typically advertised in September and October
  • Testing and virtual assessments take place in December and January
  • Our face-to-face assessments happen in February and March (some areas also have a further cohort where the assessment takes place between June and August)
  • Offers are then made to successful applicants and start with us in September or October

Apprentices:

  • Roles are typically advertised in January
  • Testing and virtual assessments take place in February and March
  • Our face-to-face assessments happen in April
  • Offers are then made to successful applicants and start with us in September or October

While this is our standard process, we sometimes have additional requirements for graduate roles depending on project requirements. Please keep an eye on our careers site for these opportunities.

What we look for in Early Careers applications

When applying for a graduate or apprentice role it is important to be able to stand out from the crowd. We have put together a list of things that our managers will be looking at when reviewing applications to help you.

  • Do your qualifications or predicted grades meet the entry requirements stated in the role?
  • Is your CV tailored to meet the job requirements?
  • Do you have any relevant work experience/placements?
  • What extra-curricular activities you take part in?
  • Have you checked your formatting, spelling, and grammar to ensure it is accurate?
  • Do you have an interesting and engaging application?
