Tetra Tech provides expert, cost-effective, and timely solutions across the asset life cycle for a range of transport projects throughout Australia and New Zealand.
Our expert teams of project managers, environmental consultants, and geotechnical and geophysical engineers and services experts take each transport development project from feasibility to operation. We are experienced in dealing with the unique challenges of projects ranging from rural and urban roads to freight and passenger rail, commercial ports and airports, and small regional or private operations.
Environmental and Heritage Services
Our team can support projects from feasibility to operation—from approvals and planning, archaeology and heritage, bushfire services, environmental offsets and biobanking, and GIS and remote sensing through to contaminated site assessment and remediation.
We leverage our knowledge of legislative requirements and expertise in ecological assessment, strategic environmental planning, offsets strategies, and GIS to support the successful delivery of any transportation project. Our team provides environmental assessments; initial advice statements; project-specific terms of reference; referrals under state, territory, and commonwealth legislation; and subsequent environmental impact statements. We provide our infrastructure clients with specialist advice for route selection, such as environmental constraints mapping and analysis, multi-criteria weighting and analysis, environmental and heritage asset mapping, and landscape scale bushfire hazard and risk mapping.
By combining our deep knowledge of construction and environmental impacts, we build sound environmental management into the design of our clients’ projects to support the construction phase and build environmental management into day-to-day operations. We can prepare construction environmental management plans and establish on-site monitoring, compliance, audit, and management programs to support effective project implementation.
Geotechnical Engineering
By using innovative field assessment techniques, our team reduces a project’s ground risk and provides advanced engineering design solutions. Our experts study site geology and geomorphology and undertake targeted geotechnical and geophysical investigations to ensure the highest level of confidence in the property and distribution of soil and rock strata.
Our geotechnical engineers work with designers to ensure every structure is designed to optimise existing geological conditions. Our pavement designers advise on the appropriate thickness, strength and stiffness, drainage, and durability of each surface to minimise long-term, lifecycle costs associated with operation, upkeep, and replacement. We combine our geotechnical engineering and geophysical imaging skills with a detailed knowledge of material behaviour, pavement design, and practical construction experience, resulting in the necessary performance capabilities.
Testing
Using our national network of laboratories, our soil and rock technicians test and assess ground conditions to inform appropriate design decisions. We support our clients’ design and construction teams by providing testing to ensure materials meet quality control standards, comply with regulations, and exhibit the physical characteristics required for construction. Tetra Tech applies specialised testing and analysis services using international best practice and conformance standards to achieve detailed, quality results.
We provide independent NATA and IANZ accredited testing services.
