Fox Studios Entertainment Precinct, Australia

The entertainment precinct was divided into two main entertainment zones: the Backlot Precinct and the Bent Street Precinct.

The Backlot Precinct was developed to provide entertainment facilities associated with the Film Studios, taking its name from the traditional studio backlot. Entertainment experiences provided in the backlot zone include:

• The Character House—showcasing the art of makeup and costume
• The Sound Factory—a venue dedicated to demonstrating the effectiveness of sound to create a cinematic environment. This experience includes a theatre designated ‘The Dark Theatre’ which featured a surround sound volcanic eruption
• Kidnapped by The Toons—a venue incorporating animation technology, including motion capture suits for transformation of selected audience members into cartoon characters
• The Titanic Experience, which includes the largest motion bases in the southern hemisphere to recreate the sinking of the Titanic, complete with its own North Sea and full-sized escape life boats
• The TV Tour—showcasing the art of TV production and set design
• The Bent Street Stand—a Baz Luhrman themed streetscape provides multiple food outlets for the Backlot patrons
• Lights! Camera! Chaos!—a performance theatre for varied stage entertainment productions

The Bent Street Precinct was developed to provide retail facilities associated with the Backlot and Film Studios, taking its name from the original street, which traveled around the showring. The Bent Street Precinct entertainment facilities include:

• Cinemas including both Hoyts multiscreen facilities and art house theatres
• Retail shops for entertainment goods including Sanity Music, RM Williams, Dymocks, and Esprit
• Restaurants
• Bars and Nightclubs including Fox Sports Bar and Fox & Lion
• Multi-story car parking facilities and an outdoor undercover market place
• External showring facilities for ice rink
