Tetra Tech is Helping Grow the Agriculture Sector in Uganda
Tetra Tech is supporting the Feed the Future Initiative in Uganda through its Agricultural Inputs (Ag Inputs) Activity, funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). Uganda has historically faced the challenge of counterfeit farming inputs, which result in low exports and decreased profit for the agriculture sector. The main objective of the Ag Inputs project is to increase the availability and use of high-quality inputs like seeds, fertilizer, and plant protection products throughout Uganda to increase the amount and value of agricultural exports.
The Ag Inputs project works at all levels of the agriculture value chain—wholesaler, retailer, and farmer—to achieve its objective. By working across all levels and using a market facilitation approach, Tetra Tech is empowering local actors to increase the amount of high-quality inputs that are available to farmers while also ensuring that the inputs are being used correctly and effectively. To enhance and sustain this approach, Tetra Tech also uses support services like business management, IT services, access to finance, and communications and outreach to facilitate expanding crop yields and increasing profit in the agricultural sector.
