Tetra Tech partnered with Engineers Without Borders USA (EWB) to help the community of Las Majadas, Guatemala, complete a clean, safe, and sustainable water distribution system.

In Guatemala’s rural highlands potable water is not easily accessible. Villagers face the daily challenge of spending half of each day traveling to and from a well to collect water for their basic needs. The only closer alternative options include collecting contaminated surface water and rain water.

Tetra Tech’s support for this project enabled the EWB team to complete water storage tanks, construct a pump house, and develop a distribution network. They also helped the community create a water committee who is responsibile for administration, finances, and system sustainability. As a result of our partnership with EWB, thousands of villagers now have a reliable source of clean water.
