Tetra Tech received the 2019 City of Houston Office of Business Opportunity (OBO) Goods & Services Prime Contractor of the Year Award at the 6th Annual Champions of Diversity Award Ceremony.
The Champions of Diversity Awards honor minority, women, small, and disadvantaged business enterprises; prime contractors; and City of Houston community partners that have exemplified commitment to and excellence in supporting the OBO’s mission to cultivate a diverse and economic environment and the City’s Supplier Diversity Program.
Tetra Tech is proud to have served the City of Houston for more than a decade and worked with numerous, diverse small businesses as part of the company’s disaster recovery and community resilience services. Our teams have supported the City by providing disaster debris monitoring, program management, and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) reimbursement support following natural disasters. This longstanding partnership began in 2008 following Hurricane Ike, where debris removal efforts were of record-setting scale and pace. The Tetra Tech team assisted the City in 2011 to recover from a severe drought, and once again in 2015 and 2016, to respond to destructive storms and flooding. Our team has continued to assist with disaster relief efforts in Houston following Hurricane Harvey in 2017, the most powerful storm to impact the Texas coast since Hurricane Carla in 1961. Throughout all activations, our team remained on-site before, during, and after the impact of the event, facilitating an immediate response and ramp-up for debris monitoring operations. Due to our established relationship with the City and frequent coordination in times of normalcy, our team has provided superior service regardless of the scope of work.
Tetra Tech deliberately looks for opportunities to work with small, women- and minority-owned, and disadvantaged business enterprises where specific and individual capabilities complement Tetra Tech’s expertise for the benefit of the local economy and successful completion of a project. Tetra Tech has forged strong relationships with numerous diverse businesses, including working with more than 10 minority, women, and disadvantaged businesses following Hurricane Harvey. Tetra Tech also has partnered with the City to host More Business for Your Business Workshops to encourage increased business opportunities for minority, women, small, and disadvantaged business enterprises with our firm.
Tetra Tech recognizes the tremendous resiliency and entrepreneurial spirit of the City of Houston’s small business community, especially considering the deep impacts that storms and other natural disasters have on them. We believe that working with minority, women, and small and disadvantaged businesses is good business.
