Tetra Tech provides engineering and design services supporting planning, construction, and sustainment of defense petroleum systems. We have executed petroleum, oil, and lubricants (POL) system projects both within the continental United States (CONUS) and outside the continental United States (OCONUS). Our engineering and design support staff are intimately familiar with the U.S. and international standards applicable to military fueling systems and experienced with code requirements associated with the design, construction oversight, and environmental requirements.
Our knowledge of the Unified Facilities Criteria, Unified Facilities Guide Specifications, U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) POL fueling system standard designs, and prevailing industry codes, coupled with our knowledge of state and local codes, enables us to respond effectively and efficiently regardless of the POL project location.

Our fuels distribution systems mechanics and industry-certified technicians provide high-quality testing, inspection, maintenance, and minor and emergency repair services for the U.S. Army, Navy, and Air Force at nearly 200 CONUS and OCONUS DoD sites. We provide the following services to ensure mission critical DoD POL system malfunctions and emergent requirements care promptly addressed:
- Periodic systems maintenance, testing, inspection, and repairs
- International Code Council, state, and manufacture-certified technicians and service provision
- 24-hour emergency repair response support
Fixed Military Fueling System Support
Tetra Tech has provided Defense Logistics Agency Energy-sponsored Sustainment, Restoration and Modernization (SRM) program services at more than 300 U.S. Army, Navy, and Air Force sites. Our petroleum system services team includes more than 500 specialized engineers and POL systems experts versed in requirements and unique challenges associated with military fueling systems. Services are provided through multiple contracts with the U.S. Army, Navy, and Air Force and the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) Schedules.
Engineering, Design, and Inspections
Tetra Tech leverages our staff of multidisciplinary engineers and fuel systems inspectors to support the delivery of code compliant design documents and facility assessment and inspection reports. We have delivered more than 1,000 design documents, system assessments, and component inspection reports to our defense clients.
Our engineers and industry-certified inspectors assess DoD POL facilities throughout the CONUS and OCONUS. Our staff engineers provide detailed reports outlining required and recommended repair actions to extend system life cycles, facilitate systems master planning, and deliver design services for follow-on minor repair and minor construction actions.
SRM Projects and Emergent Requirements
Tetra Tech has designed and constructed more than $400 million in POL systems and facility SRM projects supporting planned and emergent upgrades to fixed fueling systems and supporting infrastructure involving mechanical fueling, hazardous and non-hazardous electrical, structural/civil, and industrial coatings trades and disciplines. Our experienced engineers; project managers; fueling systems subject matter experts; quality and safety managers; and construction, schedule, and cost control managers are adept in delivering high-quality projects on schedule.
