Cities large and small around the world are turning to decentralized water systems because of the economic and environmental benefits. On-site and cluster treatment help accommodate growth and development without straining community resources. Recent research by the Water Environment Research Foundation identified a number of emerging applications for decentralized wastewater systems in rural, suburban, and urban areas where traditional sewer options were available.
