Lida Hedayat, democracy and governance team project manager with Tetra Tech International Development Services, reflects on her time as Chief of Party for the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID)-funded Women’s Leadership Development (WLD) program in Afghanistan.

WLD equipped young Afghan women with the leadership and management skills required to succeed in the job market. Lida attributes the program’s success to its threefold approach to engagement: community, government, and individual. She is hopeful for the future, because WLD participants now have the power to contribute to democratic governance decision-making and make positive contributions to society.
