The Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) recognized the Claude "Bud" Lewis Carlsbad Desalination Plant as its 2016 Design-Build Project of the Year. As a member of the design-build team, Tetra Tech supported this innovative project to provide clean, safe drinking water for San Diego residents.

"This marks the first time a water/wastewater project has been named Project of the Year," says Lisa Washington, CAE, DBIA's Executive Director/CEO. "This clearly shows that design-build can be an excellent choice for any type of project."

Tetra Tech prepared the 30 percent design drawings for the 54-million-gallon-per-day seawater desalination plant and provided final design services for the ten-mile-long conveyance pipeline. The Claude “Bud” Lewis Carlsbad Seawater Desalination Project is the Western Hemisphere’s largest, most technologically advanced, and most energy efficient seawater desalination plant.

Congratulations to project owner Poseidon Water, the design-build team, and our employees whose expertise made this project a success.
