Tetra Tech’s Shannon Malisani, a procurement manager in the firm’s environmental and energy practices, was recognized by her peers as a rising star and a top performer in the world of contracts management. She is responsible for her divisions’ small business program and manages a nationwide procurement department.

Shannon was one of twelve recipients of the National Contracts Management Association’s (NCMA) Advancing Professionals Award at the organization’s Government Contract Management Symposium in Washington, DC, on December 13, 2016. The award recognizes contract management professionals under the age of 40 for their exemplary work. The NCMA is the world’s leading professional resource for people in the field of contract management and offers education, professional certification, networking opportunities, and more.

Shannon has been a member of the NCMA’s Columbia Basin Chapter in Washington since 2009 and became an NCMA Certified Professional Contracts Manager (CPCM) in June 2016. She has more than 14 years of experience in administering domestic and international subcontracts for government and commercial projects. Her outstanding work in the procurement world is exhibited throughout her extraordinary career and vast experience. In a previous position, Shannon received the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Procurement Executive Award for innovation in shifting material purchases to online ordering, which created cost efficiencies while managing risk.

At Tetra Tech, Shannon’s day-to-day responsibilities include soliciting, awarding, and administering of subcontracts and supervising and mentoring her own staff.

“The reason I love procurement is every action is unique, and there is so much variety to this job,” says Shannon. “Whether it’s interacting with domestic or foreign suppliers, buying on behalf of a federal government or commercial client, or working with my supportive management and wonderful team of procurement professionals, I am constantly learning every day.”
