Tetra Tech Wins Air Traffic Control Association Industrial Award
The Air Traffic Control Association (ATCA) presented Tetra Tech with the 2014 Industrial Award at the ATCA 59th Annual Conference and Exposition Award Luncheon on September 29, 2014. This award recognizes outstanding achievements or contributions that have improved the quality, safety, or efficiency of air traffic control.
Tetra Tech has supported the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for more than 20 years as a leading provider of consulting and engineering services specializing in infrastructure, aerospace, satellite navigation, information technology, safety, and environment. In addition, Tetra Tech has supported the Performance Based Navigation (PBN) Group and been instrumental in providing procedure design, air traffic management, and outreach support resulting in the development and implementation of more than 1,000 PBN procedures to date.
Tetra Tech recently assisted the FAA with the design and development of more than 60 PBN procedures for the Houston Metroplex project. The procedures were designed to improve the efficiency of airspace and optimize flight paths horizontally and vertically. The procedures will provide more efficient use of airspace, reduce the number of radio transmissions, and increase the accuracy and predictability of flight paths.
