Tetra Tech was named Large Business of the Year by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in 2011. The award was presented at the FAA National Small Business Procurement Opportunities Training Conference and Trade Show in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

The FAA Large Business of the Year award recognizes Tetra Tech’s outstanding performance and significant contributions to the FAA Small Business Development Program goals and objectives, including its participation in the FAA’s Mentor-Protégé Program.  Established in 2008, previous winners of the FAA’s “Best of the Best” in the large business category include Northrop Grumman among others.

Tetra Tech provides information technology services, airport design/build, facility management, surface operations management, software development, air traffic management, carbon management, airspace design and environmental analysis, policy, and regulatory support solutions to the aviation industry.

Tetra Tech has participated in the FAA’s Mentor-Protégé Program for several years, serving most recently as a mentor for Electrosoft Services, Inc. of Reston, VA; Houghton Associates, Inc. of Hillsborough, NC; and Information Systems Solutions, Inc. of Oklahoma City, OK.

The FAA’s Mentor-Protege program is designed to help small businesses—preferably those from disadvantaged business categories—enhance their capabilities to perform FAA prime contracts and subcontracts, foster long-term business relationships, and increase the overall number of small businesses that receive FAA prime contract and subcontract awards.

“Tetra Tech is honored to be selected as the FAA’s Large Business of the Year,” said Susan Chodakewitz, president of Tetra Tech AMT. “We are proud to support the FAA in its continuing mission to provide the safest, most efficient aerospace system in the world.”

Tetra Tech is playing a vital role in the development of the Next Generation (NextGen) Air Transportation System. The company provides engineering and technical support to FAA program offices for the Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS), the Local Area Augmentation System (LAAS), and the Area Navigation (RNAV)/Required Navigation Performance (RNP) Group.
