Tetra Tech receives the 2019 Regional Recognition award from the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec
The Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (the Quebec corporation of engineers), recognizes excellence in engineering throughout the province of Quebec. At the group’s first Soiree reconnaissance de l'Ordre award ceremony, Tetra Tech received the 2019 Regional Recognition award for Bas-Saint-Laurent-Gaspésie-Îles de la Madeleine region for work on coastal protection and rehabilitation in Percé.
This innovative project addressed coastal erosion issues in the l’Anse du Sud Percé bay caused by several factors in the last 15 years. Extreme storms in 2015 and 2016 worsened these conditions, prompting action to protect and rehabilitate the Percé coast. The City of Percé commissioned Tetra Tech to produce plans and specifications and manage both the overall project and construction. Drawing from studies that integrated the effects of climate change on a 50-year horizon, our team selected an innovative approach by redeveloping and nourishing the beach through the addition of cobble stones.
We congratulate our team on this recognition and their innovative approach to coastal protection and restoration in Quebec.
