Tetra Tech worked as part of the Transmission Siting Task Force, convened by the Western Governors’ Association, to create transmission permitting and siting information for the Regulatory and Permitting Information Desktop (RAPID) toolkit to simplify challenging transmission line siting and permitting processes.

The RAPID interface was created by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) to provide permitting and siting information for geothermal, solar, and transmission technologies. It integrates important information about transmission routes and federal and state agency permitting and siting requirements. The tool, which uses a Wiki platform, was designed to allow for conversations between all parties and serves as a platform for sharing best practices. NREL hopes to expand RAPID to cover additional energy technologies such as wind and hydropower in the future.
