At the 2015 Africa Energy Forum, held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Tetra Tech’s Dean White, international energy practice leader, discussed how the energy market has changed in Africa and how the Power Africa initiative has influenced current systems. Dean specializes in energy policy, regulation, and commercial operations. During the interview, Dean used firsthand experience working in the African energy sector to discuss changing trends and proper infrastructure to ensure the success of these systems.

Dean highlighted how five to ten years ago the market was fully focused on power generation and adding new plants. While power generation is still a focus in today’s market, Dean discussed the growth of the sector, primarily the key expansion of transmission and distribution systems. In addition, Dean focused on how proper management is essential to a successful system.
