One member of Tetra Tech QI Inc. has been added to the list of experts qualified to provide certificates per Section IV.2.1 of the Quebec Environment Quality Act regarding land protection and rehabilitation. The duties of this expert include certifying the compliance of various studies and documents that relate to the protection and rehabilitation of contaminated land. Some requests for qualifications and requests for proposals may require that one member of the proponent’s team be included on the list of certified experts.

The qualification of the candidates is based on their academic training and experience in the field. To be recognized as an expert, the individual must prove to the satisfaction of the Centre d’expertise en analyse environnementale du Québec (CEAEQ, Quebec’s Expertise Center on Environmental Analyses) that they hold expertise in the field of contaminated soil characterization and rehabilitation and that they possess relevant knowledge regarding the administration of the act.

The list was established in June 2002 when the National Assembly of Quebec amended the Environment Quality Act to give the provincial environment authority (Ministre du Développement durable et de la Lutte contre les changements climatiques or MDDELCC) the power to establish a list of experts qualified to provide certificates regarding land protection and rehabilitation, as per Section IV.2.1 of the act.
