Inner Harbor Navigation Canal Surge Barrier Wins ASCE’s Top Award
The American Society of Civil Engineers selected the Tetra Tech-supported Inner Harbor Navigation Canal (IHNC) Surge Barrier project for the 2014 Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement. The award was presented at the Outstanding Projects and Leaders gala on March 20, 2014, in Arlington, Virginia.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers awarded the contract for the IHNC Lake Borgne Surge Barrier to Shaw Environmental and Infrastructure, Inc. As a subconsultant to the prime contractor, Tetra Tech led the design of the $1.1 billion surge barrier project as part of a joint venture with Ben C. Gerwick, Inc. It is the largest civil works design-build project in USACE history.
Congratulations to the USACE and Shaw-led IHNC team. We commend all the Tetra Tech employees whose dedication and innovation helped secure this award and protect the people of New Orleans from future storm events.
