Second Line of Defense, Port of Antwerp

Tetra Tech has been performing work for the Second Line of Defense program for more than four years, supporting the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) in its efforts to enhance international nuclear safety and non-proliferation, as well as reducing the global danger from weapons of mass destruction (WMDs).

Tetra Tech has been active in more than 100 locations in more than 20 countries, including the Port of Antwerp, Belgium. The Port of Antwerp is the fifth largest port in the world. A large, complex seaport, this is currently NNSA’s largest Megaports Program. The port area involves 10 terminals operated by five different companies; therefore careful coordination was necessary to ensure that port operations were not interfered with as a result of installation activities.

Highlight:
The Port of Antwerp Megaports Initiative Team won the Sandia Laboratories Silver President’s Quality Award, recognizing the team for their efforts in developing an economical solution to screening cargo for radioactive materials at one of the world’s busiest ports.
