The Twin Cities Army Ammunition Plant (TCAAP) site is located in the City of Arden Hills, Minnesota, a first-ring suburb of the Minneapolis and St. Paul metropolitan area. The property was part of a government-owned, contractor-operated facility originally used for the production of small arms ammunition during World War II. Additional production facilities and re-tooling of some of the small caliber ammunition shops allowed for production of artillery ammunition beginning in 1944. TCAAP was also used to produce ammunition for the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam Conflict. Production continued through 1976 when the facility was placed on standby status. TCAAP is currently listed as a federal Superfund site due primarily to solvent and heavy metals contamination issues.
