Battery Park City Green Buildings |

After engineering the country’s first high-rise residential “green” building in New York, Tetra Tech continues to incorporate sustainable design systems at Battery Park City sites, including The Visionaire.
This 33-story, 500,000 square foot tower includes 251 condominiums as well as 4,200 square feet of ground floor retail space. It also includes 40,000 square feet of office space for the headquarters of the Battery Park City Parks Conservancy, which operates 32 acres of open public space at the southern tip of Manhattan. This building is conditioned by a direct gas-fired absorption plant. Each apartment is provided with ventilation air that has been dehumidified and tempered from a central ventilation system with an enthalpy-wheel-type energy recovery system. Non-potable building water use is provided from in-building black water treatment and stormwater storage systems. This building also employs local power generation using photovoltaic panels and a 60 kilowatt micro-turbine.

This project is rated LEED ® Platinum.
