Scott R.
Environmental Engineer Intern
Q: How did you choose Tetra Tech for your internship?
A: I was looking for an internship that would provide experience related to water quality issues. I really wanted to get out in the field and have a chance to work in the environment and on surface water systems. I did some research on the company and talked to some people in the water quality field about Tetra Tech. I was very impressed with the company’s positive reputation, long history, and the number of projects they are involved in at the global level.
Q: How has your internship with Tetra Tech prepared you for a career as an Environmental Engineer?
A: In the short six months I have been with Tetra Tech my knowledge base has expanded in several areas including water quality and water testing procedures. I now have a better understanding of regulations governing sanitary and storm sewer connections. And each of the professionals I have worked with has taken the time to pass along their knowledge. The work environment at Tetra Tech gives me a sense of belonging to a team and that my role, ideas, and opinions are important.
Q: What has been the most rewarding part of your internship?
A: Working in this program has given me a chance to improve the water quality in the State of Michigan. This is an issue that is very important to me and the reason I chose to return to school and pursue my degree in Environmental Studies. Now I’m actively seeking a permanent position with Tetra Tech and have shared with my supervisors my desire to remain with Tetra Tech after graduation.
