Mary J.
Civil Engineer, EIT
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: As a profession, I find engineering most rewarding because of all the possibilities for discovering new methods to old solutions, and because of the excitement I feel when watching the construction of something I designed. I have enjoyed just these types of experiences since becoming a part of Tetra Tech.
Q: What are you working on now?
A: Since starting with Tetra Tech 18 months ago I have worked on many different projects from site development work in Memphis, Tennessee, to sanitary pump station design in Richmond, Kentucky. The projects I help support have allowed me to expand my knowledge in many very interesting areas of engineering that really stretch my creativity and keep me on my toes.
Q: Describe your work environment.
A: I have been fortunate to work with professionals in many areas of engineering, and I cannot say enough about my Tetra Tech colleagues. They are very knowledgeable and always make time to help me out with any design questions. Their attitude, qualifications and professionalism have given me a more enjoyable work environment where I can readily learn and grow.
I am enrolled in a Master of Science in Civil Engineering program and now take advantage of Tetra Tech’s tuition reimbursement plan. Both my supervisor and my fellow coworkers have worked with me on scheduling conflicts sometimes created by my academic schedule. This assistance helps me to become a more focused student as I gain further expertise to become a better engineer for the company.
Q: Why Tetra Tech?
A: As a new engineering professional, I felt it was my goal to seek an opportunity with an Engineering News-Record Top 10 company. Tetra Tech has allowed me to reach that objective, and now my current goal is to continue doing my best to keep Tetra Tech within the top 10.
