Jennifer P.
Senior Financial Analyst
Q: Tell us about your background.
A: I am one of the few employees here that doesn’t have an engineering degree! I graduated from Cal State University, Northridge with a B.S. in Accountancy. After an audit internship with Disney, I went to work with one of the Top 10 Accounting Firms. There, I gained experience as a Senior Auditor working primarily with governmental and non-profit clients with an emphasis on Housing Authorities and Single Audits (Federal Compliance testwork). The analytical and research skills I gained as an auditor have been extremely beneficial to my position at Tetra Tech.
Q: What brought you to Tetra Tech?
A: As I said, I came from an audit background but I was looking for a change. It wasn’t until I started my research process to prepare for my first interview that I realized all the environmental projects Tetra Tech is involved in! In fact, what fascinated me most was their participation in coastal community restoration. I was so excited to potentially be part of a company that gives back to the community and contributes to preserving our future as Tetra Tech does!
For the Senior Financial Analyst position, I interviewed with the Corporate Recruiter, Controller, and Finance Manager. After each interview I knew Tetra Tech was for me. The people were great and their purpose is awesome, and I knew Tetra Tech was going to be a great fit for me.
Q: What are you working on now?
A: Well, it’s close to year-end. While each day presents new and different projects and challenges, right now we’re focusing on the annual audit.
Q: What is your work environment like?
A: As the only Senior Financial Analyst in my unit, I have a laundry list of tasks I am responsible for. While I am still in the learning stages of my position, I have a great team to rely on and work with. My Finance Manager, Vera, has really taken me under her wing. She is always ready and available to help me with my never-ending inquiries. My other co-workers have been just as helpful in getting me started.
