The [Tetra Tech] team has contributed greatly to the overall success of the mission, the largest mission of its kind since World War II.

For U.S. Army Engineering and Support Center, Huntsville, Alabama, Tetra Tech provides mobile teams support at sites across Iraq. Trained unexploded ordnance (UXO) and munitions experts travel to remote sites to evaluate and dispose of a variety of ordnance items including UXO, ammunition, propellants, fuses, and other materials in varying degrees of viability. Often the sites are buildings, magazines, or bunkers that have been at least partially destroyed by war, requiring Tetra Tech to remove thousands of yards of dirt and rubble to identify and eliminate the dangerous explosive items.

Tetra Tech’s mobile teams consist of UXO and ammunition specialists, security providers, medics, and interpreters. This is one of the largest UXO contracting operations for the federal government.

Highlights

  • Destroyed more than 60,000 short tons of ordnance (more than 2 million individual ordnance items)
  • Cleared 100 ammunition cache sites
