Tetra Tech is supporting the U.S. Agency for International Development’s (USAID) Promoting Gender Equity in National Priority Programs Project (PROMOTE) in Afghanistan. This project is a flagship effort in gender equity and is the largest gender project funded by USAID. USAID officially launched the program with great fanfare on November 8, 2014, at the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan.

As an IDIQ holder and as the winner of the first task order issued under PROMOTE, Tetra Tech was well represented and provided invaluable support for this event. The event featured speeches in support of PROMOTE and Afghan women by former USAID Administrator Rajiv Shah and newly elected Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, as well as his wife Rula Ghani. The event even included a special video message from President Obama.

The event also featured special performances from an Afghan women’s orchestra and Shamsia Hassani, a local graffiti artist, who created a real-time painting of her vision for PROMOTE. The launch events will continue in the coming months and can be followed on Twitter by using the hashtag #HerAfghanistan.
