Cameco Kintyre Pre-feasibility Study and Environmental Approvals
The Kintyre uranium facility is an advanced-stage, joint-venture exploration project with Mitsubishi Development Pty Ltd. In 2009 Cameco selected Tetra Tech to provide work on an NI 43-101-compliant pre-feasibility study for the facility.
The project is in the East Pilbara region of Western Australia, approximately 80 kilometers south of Telfer and 260 kilometers northeast of Newman at the western edge of the Great Sandy Desert. The pre-feasibility study provides Cameco with information necessary to advance the Kintyre project to the next stage of development.
The 2012 pre-feasibility study includes water management, process design, mine planning, tailings management facilities, power and infrastructure, closure planning, and capital and operating cost estimating.
Tetra Tech certified the reporting with registered qualified persons to ensure a complete NI 43-101-compliant pre-feasibility technical report.
During the studies, Tetra Tech performed pit lake modeling and salinity plume modeling, regional and local groundwater modeling, pit dewatering methodology, and 3D engineering design of the proposed processing plant and infrastructure.
