Jeff Williams, Senior Aviation Advisor
Location: Arlington, VA, United States
Having been involved in introducing PBN into the U.S. national airspace system, I have seen how the technology has created efficient airspace for the user and the flying public. I have a great sense of pride in advancing the pathway for NextGen in the United States and adoption in the international community. Working for Tetra Tech, where we provide exceptional products that improve the lives of so many, is truly a blessing. Being recognized by our clients and the aviation industry is icing on the cake.
With more than 30 years of experience in the aviation field, Tetra Tech’s Jeff Williams has been at the forefront of integrating new technology into the U.S. National Airspace System (NAS).
Throughout this time, Jeff worked with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on several high-visibility programs including integrating global positioning system (GPS) technology into the NAS and implementing and managing the FAA’s first Performance Based Navigation (PBN) program.
Jeff continuously works with the FAA to find new ways to manage the NAS effectively and efficiently. His cutting-edge work on PBN has done just that. By working to transition the NAS to PBN, Jeff helps the FAA ensure that it will continue to build resilient airspace infrastructure.
On October 4, 2016, at a ceremony at MITRE federally funded research and development centers, Jeff was honored for his groundbreaking efforts in establishing PBN and enabling a core component of the FAA’s NextGen program.
His work on PBN also has been published in multiple journals, including a recent article for the ATCA Bulletin, "Enabling the Transition to PBN: Rationalization of the NAS Infrastructure."
