Multi-phased services for a mixed-used development at a former Naval air station Tetra Tech has provided full architecture and engineering services including transportation planning, environmental permitting, and infrastructure design for the redevelopment of the 1,450 acre South Weymouth Naval Air Station in Massachusetts. The former airfield has found new life as the Southfield master planned community that includes approximately 2,850 residential units, two million square feet of commercial/industrial space, an 18-hole golf course, and recreational facilities.
The backbone of the $750-million project is a 2.5-mile cross-base parkway that will serve as an arterial between Route 18 and Route 3. Tetra Tech analyzed alternative alignments of the parkway and completed preliminary design of the preferred alternative.
